About us

On Wednesday 22nd September 2004 the two Catholic parishes of the Holy Ghost, Crowthorne, and the Immaculate Conception, Sandhurst, were formally amalgamated into one parish, the Roman Catholic Parish of Crowthorne and Sandhurst.  Mass and other services are celebrated in both churches, with the parish priest, Fr. Kevin Jones, residing in the presbytery at Sandhurst; the parish office is also located in Sandhurst at the back of the church.

The parish is in the South Berkshire Pastoral Area of the Diocese of Portsmouth, and covers Sandhurst (including Owlsmoor and College Town),  Crowthorne (including Broadmoor Hospital),  and that part of the Civil Parish of Wokingham Without northwards to and including Nine Mile Ride and the Civil Parish of Finchampstead.

The parish is bounded by the Roman Catholic parishes of Bracknell to the north-east, Wokingham to the north-west and west, and Yateley and Fleet (North East Hampshire Pastoral Area) to the south.  The South Berkshire Pastoral Area, to which we belong, includes the parishes of Bracknell, Wokingham and Ascot.  At present (2015) each of the four parishes has a resident priest: Fr Danny McAvoy (St Joseph’s, Bracknell) is the Co-ordinating Pastor of our pastoral area.  Fr Marcus Brisley (Crowthorne and Sandhurst) and Fr David O’Sullivan (Corpus Christi, Wokingham) are Co-Pastors.  Fr Kevin Bidgood is Parish Priest  (St Francis, Ascot).  There is collaboration between the parishes of the pastoral area in many ways, for example marriage preparation for the whole of the pastoral area is provided by Wokingham.

The Diocese of Portsmouth is divided into 24 Pastoral Areas, each area having responsibility for providing for the celebration and availability of the Sunday Mass to its inhabitants.
